OUR UNION’S GOVERNANCE
MEMBERSHIP
Our union is our membership! Every decision is a member-led decision made at Monthly Membership Meetings, which are open to all members. Monthly Membership meetings are on the third Thursday of every month. Between MMMs, our Executive Board guides the operation of our many committees and is subject to monthly check-ins at the MMM
COMMITTEES
Committees are where our union gets things done. If you’re wanting to get more involved, join one! Our union has the following committees:
- Joint Organizing – Meets Wednesday 5:00 – 6:30 PM
- Advocacy and Contract Enforcement – Meets on Sundays from 2:00 – 3:00 PM PM
- Community Action and Partnerships – Meets on Tuesdays from 5:00 – 6:00 PM

- Data In Data Out Committee – Meets on Mondays from 3:00 – 4:00 PM
Our bylaws provide for other standing committees as well, but not all have been created. These days and times are accurate as of Jan 30th, 2026. Up to date meeting times and locations can be found on the WAWU Calendar (Coming soon)
THE EXECUTIVE BOARD
The Executive Board is the elected group of student employee union members who make sure the day to day functions of WAWU run smoothly. In WAWU, decisions that affect our union are made with the final stamp of approval from our general membership.
The executive board meets once per month, typically on the first Thursday of every month. These meetings are open for all WAWU members to attend. You can contact the exective board at eboard@wawu-union.org .
All members in good standing (meaning, you have signed up for membership!) are eligible to run for vacant positions during an election period. To see if an election is currently happening, check the elections center. If you haven’t signed up to be a member of WAWU, you can sign your membership card here.
