Hi Folks!
Nominations for our Executive Board vacancy election will open on August 1st! If you have been waiting for the right moment to get involved in our union, now is your chance! Local elections are incredibly important in building our union’s power to make a difference in your community on campus!
Several positions are open, all having their own unique responsibilities!
- Vice President: assists the president and helps to run and attends monthly membership meetings
- The Trustees supervise all union funds and property. They also conduct a yearly audit of all local union financial transactions.
- Head Stewards represent the membership at executive board meetings. They support union organizers, conduct outreach, serve as a liaison between committees and the executive board, and help other Executive Officers as needed.
If you’re interested in being nominated for any of these positions, please email the elections committee (elections@wawu-union.org) with your name & pronouns, your job title and workplace, a 3:4 aspect ratio headshot photo, what position you’re running for, and an optional candidate statement (under 500 words).
The election timeline is as follows:
- 2026-08-01 Open Nominations
- 2026-08-10 Nominations close
- 2026-08-15 Last day to revise nominations
- 2026-08-17 Statements Posted
- 2026-08-24 Voting Opens
- 2026-08-31 Voting Closes
- 2026-09-07 Tentative Runoff Voting Opens
- 2026-09-14 Tentative Runoff Voting Closes
